PRIM custom watches and our PRIM automatic watch are both intricate time pieces, and require some simple maintenance to keep them in pristine working order.
We offer a Lifetime Maintenance Service that will provide you with a free watch checkup and cleaning every two years. But whether you choose a Lifetime plan or not, performing regular service approximately every two years is the key to maintaining watch quality.
Quartz watches should have a battery change every two to three years, and the watch strap should be replaced after approximately six months.
Also, take these simple precautions as well to ensure the precision of your PRIM custom or automatic watch:
Avoid Over-Winding. Mechanical or custom watches that feature self-winding mechanisms should be wound no more than one to two times each day. More frequent winding can damage movement parts.
Avoid Magnetic Power. Mechanical watches should be kept away from a source of magnetic power. At PRIM, our movements are partially made from steel. Steel can be magnetized and exposure to magnetization can result in a slowdown of time-keeping precision. You want to especially avoid close contact with hair dryers, electric shavers and vacuums.
Rinse after Salt-Water Exposure. If your watch is exposed to salt water, be sure to rinse it thoroughly with fresh water in order to prevent any salt damage.
Avoid Direct Sunlight. Long interval direct sun exposure can cause color fading and should be avoided.
Avoid Shocks. Protect your watch from any rough falls, and any exposure to dangerous chemicals.

Avoid Extreme Temperature Changes. Whenever possible, avoid extreme temperature exposure, such as that above 140F/ 60C and below -4F/-20C.
Screw in Crown. Be sure to thoroughly screw the crown in your watch if you've loosened or removed it. This prevents water from entering the watch mechanism.
